We arrived at Aravon school earlier than expected at 15.30 in the sunshine. The trip had been mainly un-eventful – with the exception of a few chuckers... The school was just the same as we’d remembered it 3 years ago. We started off immediately getting the kids allocated into their bedrooms. Then came an immediate training session. The weather turned grey and what had initially been a nice and sunny afternoon turned very cold, wet and windy. Home from home really!
The training session was very useful in getting the kids back into the rugby, especially after a long days journey. The weather got worse and we all ventured back inside soaked and cold. The first kids in got nice hot showers, but the last ones only had luke warm verging on cold showers. First meal at the school was a warming lasagne. We then had our quiz night. Seven rounds of questions from chief questionmaster, Weakest-Link-Dewar. After what seemed an eternity, the best team won. The kids were well and truly knackered by then, given the early start and so bed beckoned quickly. The coaches have never seen such a quick lights-out to sleep period from the kids. It was bliss!
