Stirling County Rugby Football Club
Northern Ireland 2012 Mini’s Tour - Second Parent Communication
Tour Dates: Friday 30th March to Monday 2nd April 2012
Dear Parent/Carer,
We are well underway in organising the tour and due to some very kind sponsors (Ardoch Homes, H & R Gray Haulage, Valpak, Richard Austin Alloys) and some successful fund raising to date (including the auction of prizes donated by Brogan Fuels at the clubs Christmas dinner and the Morrisons bag pack), I can confirm that the actual cost for tour will now be £150 (£25 less than we originally anticipated). However, we still need to raise a similar amount from the Ceilidh on Saturday 3rd March, as we did last year so will need all your support for this. We still need some good raffle prizes for the night and I would be grateful if you could let Elaine Allison or myself know if you are able to help.
For those who paid a £100 deposit, payment of the final balance of £50 needs to be made no later than Saturday 4th February. I will be available for 30 minutes after training on Saturday 21st and 28th January and 4th February to receive payments, and also to refund those who had already made the full payment based on the previously estimated figure.
The agenda for tour is as follows:
Friday 30th March – drop off at the club no later than 7.30 am for an 8.00 am departure. (Please remember to request a leave of absence from school). The children need to bring a hearty packed lunch, as they will not be fed until teatime when we arrive at our accommodation for the weekend Rockport School. They must also bring a sleeping bag, as the school are unable to provide bedding due to a tight turnaround with their end of term. (http://www.rockportschool.com)
Saturday 31st March – hosted by Ballynahinch RFC (http://www.hinchrfc.com) for the day and we envisage being with them from 9.30 am to mid afternoon.
Sunday 1st April – hosted by Cooke RFC (http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/cookerugbyclub) for the day and again we envisage being with them from 9.30 am to mid afternoon.
Monday 2nd April - we expect to be back at the club sometime between 4pm and 5pm.
Obviously we have a number of other activities in store for the kids whilst on tour.
It will probably be helpful at this time to make some suggestions for kit etc. as follows:
- Tour kit including one County playing top, one fleece, 2 t-shirts, and a small bag will be provided and handed out in February.
- Children will also need one other County playing top, two pairs of playing shorts, two pairs of playing socks, two gum shields, a water bottle, and rugby boots (the boots, gum shields and water bottle will fit in the small bag being provided).
- For one of our activities the children will need to be wrapped up warmly, and they should therefore bring a warm hat, gloves and a jacket.
- Whilst the rest of what they bring is left to your discretion, we would suggest 2 towels, rugby wet weather gear, and a couple of other changes of clothing. Keep it light though as we will be travelling in the tour fleeces and t-shirts most of the time.
Finally, I have only two children with special dietary requirements, but if you child does please let me know ASAP.
