The U13s started their first match as a Midi team away at West of Scotland.
Well, we dug deep and found a tin of WD40 for half
time because, boy, were we rusty!!!
A good wake up call though that a full
pitch game and new rules needs a fresh attitude and good skills - both of which
came back plenty in second period.
We lost 19-11 in a good natured but hard
game. The boys were learning and
experimenting in different positions which gave them a taste of where they
might like to develop specific skills.
Harry and Cameron were note
worthy for their effort and solid tackling and some good support play later on
earned a couple of well worked tries.
West were well disciplined in ball distribution and their alignment
through the game served as a good initial benchmark as to where we should
strive to be in next few weeks.
A good if unsuccessful start to the season.
