This turned out to be the biggest 7-a-side tournament in the region, helping to encourage local rugby.

In the region of 240 people enjoyed Corporate hospitality at the City of Stirling 7s tournament on Saturday 28th April.

A lovely sunny morning proved the perfect start to a day of great rugby, good food, wine and lots of banter and fun. Support from local companies was very evident and much appreciated on the day and in particular from the sponsors of the event, Ondeo, Murray Motor Company, RBS Private Banking and Storage Products SPS. Thanks are also due to the club members and helpers who helped make the day a very successful one.

A wonderful three course meal was served by Michael More and his team and with a complimentary bar throughout the afternoon the marquee was a lively place to be. The Murray Motor Company was also

represented by Carol Smillie and she and Kenny Logan signed the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2014 team banner to show their support. Scotland and Edinburgh star Allister Hogg was also present and signed the banner.

An auction was held before the final between Wasps and Kenny’s All Stars and local auctioneer Ally Logan ensured that there was plenty of competition for the prizes on offer. The total amount raised was £4,250. The City of Stirling 7s Committee will be giving a donation to Strathcarron Hospice.

The day ended with a disco in the marquee and live music in the bar. The whole day was a great success and many of those present have confirmed their support for next year’s event.

From the committee – thanks to all who helped make the inaugural City of Stirling 7s Tournament a day and a night to remember!
