Rugby is Returning

12/07/2020

Dear fellow Members

I am delighted to tell you that, unless there is an increase in the number of cases of the virus, we are planning to resume training in week beginning 24th August.

It is important to let the schools go back first. We are very different to many rugby clubs because we have boys and girls from at least ten different secondary schools at County so we need to take the threat of an outbreak of Covid really seriously.

When we return all will be different! We will have one way systems, hand cleaning protocols, equipment cleaning arrangements and social distancing for all adults. There will be limitations on numbers that come together at first and we will look to use the whole week to avoid too many groups training at the same time. Your training time may have to change to accommodate this. At the moment there are different rules for adults and we are working our way through the implications of that. Also, Super 6 may return to training earlier as there is a possibility that can resume soonest.

We now have Joey Crozier as our Covid Protection officer. Joey is working through risk assessments and making plans to make Bridgehaugh as safe as we can make it. Thank you Joey.

The club house will remain shut for the time being. This will include access to the toilets. We are looking to reopen that mid September but that will be subject to review. We are in a rapidly changing landscape so all plans could be subject to change for the better or for the worse depending on the news.

I wanted to thank you for your patience as I know how keen you all are to get back to the club to train, to play, to maintain your fitness , to watch matches and enjoy the clubs facilities and hospitality whilst socialising with your fellow members. It will be so good to get back to these activities as soon as it is safe.

We have been negotiating with the banks, insurers, suppliers, applying for grants, completing funding applications etc to ensure that as a club we are financially viable. We will face many challenges going forward.

We have also been working away in the background to develop a new website, improve our sponsorship and advertising offerings, revamp all of our hospitality packages as well as looking after the club building and maintaining the pitches.

My commitment to you is that as soon as we know the specific details.... you will know them too.

It will take a big effort to make Bridgehaugh safe for rugby and we will be reaching out to you so that we can coordinate any support that you are able to offer.

I wanted to finally take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been involved over the last 12 weeks or so, it’s been a tremendous team effort during extraordinary times.

I look forward to continuing this journey with you all. Rugby is returning!

Best
