Funding Secured For Refurbishment of Changing Facilities at Stirling County RFC

Stirling County RFC has been awarded £90,000 from Patersons Quarries Limited through the Scottish Landfill Communities Fund as administered by LandTrust, for the refurbishment and improvement of their changing facilities at Bridgehaugh Park.

This grant funding will enable the rugby club to upgrade the existing changing facilities, which date back to the 1970s, and provide new segregated male and female changing areas with toilets and showers, along with a separate referees changing room. The specification for the changing facilities includes modern bright and durable materials on the walls, floor and ceilings, with new energy-efficient lighting and a new entrance doorway.

Stirling County’s Kevin Robertson, in welcoming the funding contribution from Patersons Quarries, said: “the refurbishment of the existing inadequate changing facilities is long-overdue, and is an essential component of Stirling County RFC’s Development Plan. This is a substantial infrastructure investment which will not only benefit players at all levels across our rugby club, but also those from our local schools and other community groups who regularly use Bridgehaugh Park. With the increase in playing numbers, and in particular the recent success of our Women’s and Girls’ teams, it is essential that we have changing facilities which are able to accommodate all who train and play rugby and other participate in other community sporting activities throughout the year.”

Kevin added: “This is the single largest grant funding award Stirling County has received in over 20 years. We are extremely grateful to Patersons Quarries for their funding contribution, and we look forward to the upgrading works starting imminently with substantial completion in time for the start of the forthcoming season”

Commenting on the funding, Stephen Rees from LandTrust said: “they were delighted to see the upgrade of the changing facilities at Stirling County Rugby Football Club progressing. Funding made available from Patersons Quarries will result in the upgrade of a valuable well-used local public amenity.”

The refurbishment works will commence in July and is expected to take three months to complete, with the new changing facilities due to be fully operational by early Autumn.

Architect for this project is Construct Architects Limited of Crieff and the works will be carried out by contractor Crannog Construction Limited from Linlithgow.
